To demonstrate the viking era craft of bead making a furnace was set up and burned for two days. Visitors and staff were provided insturction and allowed to try building beads. On the first day the wind was too high, cooling the furnace and beads so fast that they broke. The second day was much better with a very high success rate. It is important to note that although a bead was found at L'AM there is no evidence to support the idea that beads were made on site. For this reason these experiments were conducted outside the fenced interpretative area.
