Beads - L'anse aux Meadows, NF - 2017

« large pic »
It had to happen some day! We finally broke a mandrel. Most of these tools are several years old now. In this case the wrought iron of the mandrel (yes real wrought iron) had enough of being twisted to remove beads and broke. This left the end of the mandrel in the bead much like the bead from Paviken that has a partial mandrel in it. In our case we soaked the bead for a bit and the end of the mandrel dropped right out.
